AIR VENTILATION AND CIRCULATION

Regardless of where you are growing your plants, they need to be able to breathe. Without proper ventilation, your plants will be starved of oxygen and may either die or yield less than ideal results. Consider the great outdoors, where there is always a source of wind or airflow. When growing plants indoors, they lack this natural airflow and the air can become stagnant. The goal is to mimic natural air circulation. The size of your grow operation will determine the amount of airflow needed.

Plants require a consistent air source blowing across the canopy. It's important not to direct fans directly at the plants but to allow the air around them to circulate. Clip-on, desk, or floor fans are all suitable options.

If you are utilizing a tent or confined space, you will need to introduce air from an external source. No, I am not suggesting running pipes outside your residence; simply bring in air from outside the tent or space where you are growing, especially if it's not in an open area. Tents typically come equipped with vents, making the process of bringing in air straightforward. Inside your tent, ensure you have a carbon filter with an inline air fan that expels air from the tent through one of the pre-made holes.

For a 2×2 tent, consider employing a 4-inch inline fan with a matching 4-inch carbon filter. For a 4×4 tent, it's advisable to use a 6-inch inline fan paired with a corresponding 6-inch carbon filter. If you're working with a 6×6 tent, it is recommended to utilize an 8-inch inline fan along with a corresponding 8-inch carbon filter.

Additionally, for each setup, you'll need flexible, uninsulated metallic ducting, readily accessible at your local home improvement store, and three stainless steel duct clamps.

Connect the carbon filter to a section of ducting, attaching it to the inline fan, and then run another piece of ducting from the inline fan out through one of the pre-made holes in your tent. Always ensure that the ducting size matches that of the carbon filter/inline fan for seamless compatibility. Be careful when using ducting reducers, you don't want to restrict your air flow.
